What is the wine like?

Singular, unique, limited, unrepeatable… Words that describe this wine that is special for many reasons. Surely the most important of all is its purpose … Help while enjoying! A fantastic proposal, right?

It is unrepeatable because it was born from vines planted in 1942 that no longer exist because we had to pull them up some years ago.
A limited and unique edition of only 1,468 bottles were sleeping in the darkness for 129 months, waiting patiently for more than 10 years!
The concept of it, in wood, is innovational in a cellar like COLET that does not usually work with barrels.

A brave bet by that farmer who destines the grapes of the best vineyard to make a wine that he has imagined but will not taste until 10 years later. From an oenologist who has tested and reinvented himself by making a wine and thinking out of the box, from his safe zone, … and a charitable family that after this long journey, commitment and effort, wants it to be more than a wine, a hope. We knew it would be a special wine, but we could not imagine how much. It was an idea, an experiment that was born many years ago with the hope of becoming a great project as it is now.

Curiosity

Because in 2006 it was a late harvest, with a slow maturation, I found it ideal for the production of an aged sparkling wine. From a conversation with our friend, Didier Belondrade (BELONDRADE & LURTON) the idea came to experience fermentation with wood and he himself selected and gave us 3 barrels from his cellar.
From the beginning, this wine was born to be much more than a wine.

Winemaking

2006 was a late and fresh harvest, with a slow maturation.
In September 2006, the must fermented in three-year-old French oak barrels from the Belondrade & Lurton winery.
In February 2007, it was bottled for a second fermention (Traditional Method)
Aged for 129 months.
In October 2017 the bottles were disgorged finalizing its aging on the lees of more than 10 years.

Tasting notes

  • “Bright lemon in colour. Spicy aromas, dried fruits, fine lees, patisserie. On the palate, oily, flavourful, mature fruit, long, with a fine bitterness and bubble”
